Here on the island, paired three-course lunches and dinners are served between flexible interludes, where the encouraging affection of an afternoon nap, the companionship of a good book and some sanative time in nature is encouraged. With the backdrop of snow-kissed Andean mountain tops reflecting off the lake’s majestic body of water, the sun playfully teases, peeping through voluptuous clouds eagerly attempting to catch my eye.

Continuously torn between the tenacious grip of the cozy bed cover and the romantic allure of the fresh potential that awaits. The prospect of a hike is on the horizon, as well as the opportunity to participate in harvesting the wild trout for tomorrow evening’s starter, upon my request. Ample time to clean, hang, and lightly smoke the fish before filleting, all of which I will learn from the master himself.

We gather around the table beside the lake where, at night, the fire demands all the attention. Juicy chicks set alongside a colorful array of veggies are considerately suspended above the rhythmic flames, erotically bathing in sensuous smoke for hours on end. 

Intimate conversations are shared along with gracefully aged wines contributing to the generous company.  As I embrace the ambiance, a tray of steamy empanadas is suggestively set down. Oh, the seductive empanada. How my heart has yearned for you, mi amor.

A theatrical gourmand experience of color, taste, and texture. Francis humbly describes it as a ‘primal love affair”, encapsulating the pure simplicity of it all.
